Welcome to Science-Matters.org!  I started this webpage back in 2011 to help students having difficulty understanding concepts in Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science, Physics and Math.

My Education Background

I earned my bachelor’s degree in the biological sciences with minors in mathematics and biochemistry from Duquesne University, graduating Magna cum Laude.   I went on to earn a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park focusing on biochemistry and microbiology.  Following my graduate degree, I worked at the Cleveland Clinic as a post-doctoral researcher and taught science courses at Lakeland Community College and Lake Erie College in Northeast Ohio.  I earned an Ohio Resident Educator license in Chemistry/Physical Science and Biology and taught AP biology, honors biology, honors chemistry, chemistry, physical science and genetics at both public and private high schools in the Cleveland area.

I currently homeschool my four children and teach chemistry and biology to middle school and high school students from around the globe at the Well-Trained Mind Academy.
